R&D Formulas
The R&D Formula feature is a comprehensive tool for managing all aspects of a formula prior to production and for managing the on-going formula revisions for existing products.
R&D Formula feature provides the ability to:
- Manage formula access and workflow approval
- Publish formulas to inventory and manufacturing BOMs
- Assign, print, and track regulatory documents and technical requirements
- Explode Intermediates and consolidate Ingredients
- Create and send Estimates and Quotes
- Calculate Chemical Composition by CAS number.
- Track formula versions and revisions
- Resize formulas
- Roll-up Allergens
- Calculate properties
- Calculate formula costs, including machine, labor and overhead costs.
Quality Control Quick Entry
Quick Entry feature allows QC results for multiple samples of the same product to be entered in a tabular format.
Faster data entry, since each question is a column and each sample is a row in the table.
- Results can be entered at any point in the receipt or manufacturing process. This includes the ability to enter QC results before a product has been received.
- Quick Entry records can be copied in order to post to multiple QC Workbench records.
- QC results can be reviewed and approved before they are posted.
- Multiple samples can be tested and results recorded at the same time.
Presale Request
This feature allows lab requests to be tracked from customers or prospects, as well as internal requests. The Presale Request feature allows the management of these requests as a lab project.
Incoming requests may be for new formulas/recipes or sample requests for existing products. A Presale Request manages the following process:
1. Request
2. Data Collection
3. Approvals
4. Task Assignments
5. Regulatory Document and Technical Requirements
6. Lab Projects
7. Formulation
8. Send Samples
9. Estimating and Quoting
10. Sales Order
Use Cases:
- A prospect has requested a sample of one of our manufactured products. Before approving the request, the manager may search the presales requests to see if the customer has requested samples for this product before. If there is an opportunity, then a sample may either be pulled from the warehouse or created as a lab workbench sample.
- A salesperson receives feedback from a prospect that a competitor’s product has a feature that has a competitive advantage. The salesperson may submit a lab request for the same feature for the product they sell. There is not an immediate sales opportunity here, so this request is not tracked in CRM. The request is passed to the lab along with any supporting documentation. This presales request is then reviewed for business and technical considerations and approved.
- A prospect is looking to expand their product offerings. They provided guidelines for each product offering and asked our lab to provide sample formulations for each. If one of our formulations is deemed acceptable, then we will provide a quote. A different Presale Request will be created for each product.
Procession Product Technical Sheet
The Procession Product Technical Sheet is a QC enhancement that allows multiple technical sheets to be defined for a single product. The Procession Product Technical Sheet contains the test questions and specifications for the product. When testing the product in QC, the test results are entered and validated against the Product Technical Sheet.
The following types of Product Technical Sheets are the main types that can be created in Procession:
- Types – types of specifications, such as final, in-process, pre-ship, etc.
- In-Process Routing Operation Specifications –specifications that are specific to a routing operation step.
- Delivery Address Specifications – specifications that are specific to a customer’s delivery address.
- Customer Specifications – specifications that are specific to a customer
- Production Specifications –internal specifications for determining the quality of a product.
- A single product can have multiple Product Technical Sheets based upon different combinations of the Type, Product, Customer, Delivery Address, and Operation fields. A Procession Product Technical Sheet is created for a product, so no additional steps are required to assign the Product Technical Sheet to the product.
SDS Generation
Procession provides tools necessary for companies to create safety data sheets and GHS compliant labels. These tools include the ability to create safety data sheets in multiple languages and in the format of multiple locales. All companies that manufacture or distribute chemicals are required to provide readily available Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to material handlers, business partners and emergency responders. The SDS provides safety and handling information as well as regulatory compliance data.
Boilerplate Notes
Boilerplate notes are used to give instructions during production or during the delivery process. These delivery instructions can be added to a sales order or to the bill of lading
Advantages of boilerplate notes are:
- Allows for rapid global changes to instructions. If an instruction is changed on the Boilerplate Note, the instruction is automatically changed on all open sales orders or BOLs where the Boilerplate note is used.
- Reduces user error by eliminating the need for the re-entry of common instructions
